MOORPANYAL PARK - in the depth of the industrial heartland of Geelong.
Blowout - re-imagining lost industrial space.
What will our future world look, sound and be like? What do we worship today that we will discard tomorrow? What will future generations think of the ways we live our lives?
Blowout utilises discarded fragments of everyday life. You are invited to contribute your own obsolete objects and stories to create a totem of pop archeology to be mined by future generations. Come and walk a circle that mimics rebellious burnouts and uses the treads of cars once manufactured in the surrounding factories. You will leave behind your own imprints in this reflective space.
“We create the archaeology of the future.” Artist Merinda Kelly creates a field of play, a walking circle on a contemporary songline of our times This ‘pop archaeology’ totemic installation is a potent prompt to examine the debri we create in the consumer age.
