The album will provide the perfect audio experience for your M~M journey, so be sure to pick up a copy before M~M2016 (6-7 May 2016).

Walk This Land

Music & Lyrics by Tiffany Eckhardt and Dave Steel.
“In writing this song, Walk This Land, we were thinking about what our country means to us. We realised how much we identify ourselves by our country, it’s location in relation to the world and its geography, its colour and smell, its familiarness, its weather and shape and mood. When we think about who we are, we can’t help but be defined by our land, our home. It is easy in our busy world to forget this connection but somehow writing this song reminded me personally how important this is for me.”

“The assignment to musically represent places I had grown up with had some particular challenges. Could I hear music flowing from these locations I knew so well? Would familiarity inspire song, I wondered? But as I revisited these places and reflected long enough on their uniqueness I began to see them in new light. The melodies began to flow quite naturally and the ‘songline’ took shape under my hands as I reconnected with my homeland, almost as if I’d never left. Thanks to all the wonderful musicians involved in the M2M project who took the project to new levels. Special thanks to Zac Barter for his mixing and mastering and to Atelier Puglisi, Double Bass luthier, Hawthorn, Victoria.”

Carry Memory

Music & Lyrics by Rose Bygrave.

“Meme and I worked on the idea of a composition for a large choir. We wanted to sing the landscape from the Barwon River to the You Yangs and beyond. Music and stories had to have all the cultural and seasonal dynamics of the region - grand and delicate. I am thankful that my

connection with the region has been a long one. People were connected, identities were defined, and beauty was unearthed in the heart of the collaborative experience. Memorable things happened when The City of Greater Geelong had the foresight to fund and promote the creativity of the region. I am sincerely grateful. My thanks go to Meme McDonald and all at the C.O.G.G. Arts &

Culture Department; Andy Burns at The Pulse, Lucy Jones who taught us all about listening and the Choir… the Choir - men and women from all walks of life, your heartfelt singing brought the music to life! Just brilliant!”
