Mountain to Mouth 2016's Gathering of the City: Geelong Connected Communities ceremony is one of the highlights of Geelong After Dark 2016. It is held down on the Geelong Waterfront at Steampacket Gardens on Friday 6th of May from 8pm.

The ceremony is a contemporary participatory event directed by ritual artist Margie Mackay and Zimbabwaean-Australian choreographer Gilbert Douglas.

The central theme 'take-air & dance together" celebrates our diversity and differences. Line dancers, cheerleaders, South Sudanese dancers, lawn bowlers, Wadawurrung dancers, Maori dancers, Sri Lankan dancers and a brass band, as well as countless other community groups from all parts of the city are all getting involved in the celebration. These groups will converge to welcome the entourage of extreme arts walkers, flag bearers and Canoe carriers enter Steampacket Gardens as they end the first day of their Mountain to Mouth 2016 journey and their long walk from Big Rock in the You Yangs. 

Everyone is invited to bring friends, family and their groups to come and join in the dance together with us. All are welcome to the rehearsals, which will be held each Sunday afternoon over April from 2:30-4:30pm at Cloverdale Community Centre, 167-169 Purnell Road, Corio.
